Summer Car Plans
Greetings humans! I have run out of weekly activities to discuss. However, we are two weeks away from the end of the semester! I am excited to be done with another semester but I also love learning. I wish I could keep taking a full load of classes over the summer. Next week is dead week but it is not dead at all. Dead week is filled with studying for exams, final projects, presentations and more. How are you all feeling about finals? On another note, I figured I would inform my readers of my plans to fix up my car.
I have a 2008 Honda Civic Si. My car has 170,000 miles on it and it runs like a dream. Unfortunately my car does not have air conditioning and that will be the first thing I fix this summer. I also have a significant amount of clear coat fade on my car. The clear coat is the topcoat that protects the paint of a vehicle. I suspect my car spent a lot of time in the sun so there are many spots on my car that are faded. I would love to repaint my car but it is very expensive. I am hoping to wrap it this summer and someday I will get it repainted. Vinyl car wrap is applied by stretching the wrap over the car, squeegeeing the air bubbles out and applying heat to allow the wrap to adhere to the vehicle. Vehicle wrap usually lasts between five and 15 years. Before I wrap my car I must replace my rear driver's side door because it has a slight dent. The only other big fixes on my car are replacing the suspension, buying new tires and fixing my exhaust leak. Those fixes will depend on how much money I save this summer.
I also have a few renovations I would like to do on the interior of my car. Last summer my boyfriend and I replaced my headliner with a gorgeous black headliner. We also started painting the interior panels black as well. However, we ran out of paint and I did not have the time or the funds to continue the project. While working on the interior of my car I had to take off the handles and visors and I never put them back on my car. Sadly, my dog started eating my headliner last week and I will need to replace it again this summer. My dog has made significant scratches on the inside of the rear doors and she tore the driver's seat headrest. Luckily these are all easy fixes. Finding a door and headrest will be relatively easy to do.
I hope to keep my car forever. It gets amazing gas mileage, the interior is clean and spacious, my car has no rust and it is a great car to someday let my kids drive. I have not decided if I want to do all these renovations and repairs this summer because Jupiter will still be a puppy and will continue to destroy my car. Maybe I will only do a couple repairs and I will just use my car as a daily driver. I plan to buy a nicer vehicle at some point but I will always keep my Si. I have learned so much about cars in the last year and I am excited to continue learning to be a handy-woman! I hope you have a great week and let me know what type of car you have in the comments!
I have a 2011 Dodge Ram 1500 with 207,000 miles. Spending money to make it look nice is not on my spend list as I would rather spend my money on other things.
ReplyDeleteMy ride is a 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan. It isn’t fancy, but it gets me where I need to go and the air conditioning works!
ReplyDeleteI felt your love for your car and I also got happy to hear that! Your car is so cool! Summer is coming, so you need to fix your air conditioner as soon as possible haha
