Lexington Adventures and an Epic Social Media Workshop

I told you guys I would tell you more about my spring break adventures. First, I must let you know that I recently had the opportunity to attend a social media workshop at ONU. We heard from multiple, incredible speakers. My favorite speaker was Kevin Saghy who works in social media at the Ohio State University. He spoke about the social media strategy he has used to bring Ohio States' social media from last to fourth in the nation. During the social media workshop I also had the opportunity to live tweet. Live tweeting involves sending a tweet a few minutes before the event and tweeting consistently throughout that event. I have never downloaded or used Twitter so this project contained a lot of trial and error for me.

Anyways, to continue my spring break recap, I will never say no to opportunities to see new places. I love driving, I love hiking and I love traveling. Let me also preface this post by telling you that we got home from our Utah trip around 10:30 PM Thursday night. I rested on Friday and left for Lexington, Kentucky at 9 AM Saturday morning. Yes, this was a crazy thing to do. Not only was my body exhausted from traveling but my body was not used to being back in the Eastern time zone.

We grabbed breakfast about thirty minutes into the trip and started the nearly five-hour trip to Lexington. We made a few stops along the way and made it to our hiking location around 3 PM. We hiked at Red River Gorge Geological Area. We hiked the Sky Bridge loop which took us to the top of the mountain. Then we had to cross a rock bridge that had no guard rails or safety precautions. At this point I realized I am slightly scared of heights. I have always been a person who does crazy and dangerous adventures but this was out of my comfort zone. Anyways, we continued the hike and my boyfriend found a civil war musket ball. After that hike we headed to the Rock Bridge trail. This trail featured a gorgeous, clear stream with an adorable waterfall. However, my favorite part of this hike was not the actual trail or scenery. When we arrived to the waterfall we witnessed a guy around our age proposing to his girlfriend. It was so cute! We headed back to our car and made the trek back to the city of Lexington.

We got dinner at a burger and shake place that had ridiculously cheap and delicious food. After eating we stopped at Ross to grab swimsuits since our hotel had a pool. Little did we know, the pool was massive and even had a hot tub and sauna! I highly recommend sitting in a sauna because it is soooooo relaxing. Another fun fact about our hotel is that it is a dog-friendly hotel. I saw quite a few dogs around the hotel and woke up to a dog barking in the middle of the night. The hotel was crazy busy with individuals attending conferences, spring break, sports tournaments and St. Patrick's Day.

On Sunday morning we explored Lexington, saw the University of Kentucky and ate Dunkin Donuts. We stopped in Dayton and checked out the National Museum of the US Air Force and tried to see the presidential planes. However, those planes are only available to see on weekdays. Finally, after a very week we drove home and slept like babies. That concludes all of my spring break adventures. I hope you enjoyed my stories and are inspired to travel. Remember, you are only young once so use your youth to your advantage!
