The Best Professional Platform to Exist

How many of you knew LinkedIn was founded in 2002? I had no idea the platform was that old! According to the Principles of Social Media Marketing textbook, LinkedIn has over 828 million users in over 200 countries. That is a ridiculous amount of people. LinkedIn is an amazing platform for business professionals. It allows users to showcase their resumes, academic and career accomplishments, search for jobs and build connections with other professionals. LinkedIn also has personal pages, company pages, product pages, career pages and showcase pages. Businesses can use company pages and career pages to look for and hire employees. LinkedIn has very similar features to other social media platforms. Individuals can post content, repost, like photos, conduct polls, and stream live videos. When posting on the platform people should keep posts within 150 characters and post regularly and at optimal times.

I primarily use LinkedIn to showcase my achievements, connect with business professionals and peers, and stay updated on my favorite companies. I post content when I attend conferences, workshops, accept internship offers and receive awards or certifications. I have only started using LinkedIn in the last year, but I love checking out what my peers are accomplishing. I also accepted an internship from Revival Design Studio and I love looking at their content. Any individual in college or in the workforce should utilize LinkedIn. It is an amazing way to simply connect with others. Even though it has been around since 2002, many individuals working in the corporate world do not utilize the app. For example, neither of my parents use LinkedIn and many other adults in my hometown do not use it. Facebook is definitely their preferred platform. I am so glad my generation uses the platform.

As LinkedIn continues to evolved and add more features to their platform, I hope my professionals will begin to see how beneficial the platform can be for their careers. I connect with individuals at every convention, workshop and speaking event I attend. It is not the most exciting social media platform but it could land you an amazing job. One of my best friends finds all of her careers via LinkedIn. She graduated with a degree in marketing, works remotely and makes over $70,000 a year. If that does not convince you to use the platform, I do not know what will. Thank you for reading my posts and if we are not connected, please connect with me on LinkedIn. Have an awesome week and I plan to update you on my New Orleans adventures in next week's blog.

  1. Hi Rachel! I absolutely agree with this! I think LinkedIn is a very unique and work friendly way to network and also promote business. I think this app allows people to meet within the business world and also allows like you said for us as students and soon to be professionals to show "achievements, connect with business professionals and peers, and stay updated on my favorite companies."

  2. Unfortunately, I didn't even know the name LinkedIn until recently because it's not so much common in Japan compared to here in the States. However, I really like that platform, so hopefully it is going to be more worldwide!

  3. Linkedin is an amazing app. Thanks to the app I was able to connect with a potential internship that not even Dr. Lambdin was able to connect with. It is a great way and place to show off skills that maybe you do not get to show off on other platforms.
